Reiki Saved My Life

Offering Reiki at Temple Trainyard, Toronto.

I was introduced to Reiki when my mother was in the process of healing her cancer. She used Reiki as a tool to assist with her condition and connect to her own healing power. I remember feeling sensitive to the energy right away. I was intrigued by the colours that I saw and the sensations that I felt. Reiki also reminded me of the stories in the Bible of Jesus healing people with the palms of his hands. I really resonated with this and wanted to learn more. Because for me it felt like magic.

As the years went by Reiki was put to the test. It became the primary healer to many of my issues. Reiki healed my sprained ankles, my headaches, my Crohn's Disease, and many emotional breakdowns. Reiki brought peace and balance to my chaos and helped me get past my dramas. It taught me how to elevate my thoughts and visions while keeping me anchored to the earth. It gave me the courage and maturity to face and transform my life.

It wasn't till I had my 2 boys that I decided I wanted to be a Reiki Master. In the past I didn't feel the need to get certified or an attunement. I felt that everyone has energy moving through them and we can access it whenever we want too. But truthfully I have such respect for this practice. It's been such a blessing for myself and my family. So getting certified and going through the many initiations was one of the ways I chose to truly honor it and where it originated from.

I also felt the responsibility to pass this practice down to my children. I felt that if they start young they can avoid embodying a lot of the traumas that get passed down through generations. I wanted my children to exert confidence from within. I use to fantasize about creating a school for children to openly use their gifts. To have experience and freedom to play with energy. Like in Xmen and The Harry Potter movies. I deeply feel that its such an important tool to activate and its one of the main reasons why I chose to homeschool my boys. I felt that this element of energy is missed or nonexistent in the mainstream school systems.

Kids these days are suffering so much from inattentiveness, irritability, emotional issues, and hyperactivity. And like us adults they are also feeling the uncertainty of theses times. Reiki treatments for kids are safe and invasive. I feel that they are a lot more open to receiving then many adults. This is why my mother and I co-created a course called Reiki for Kids. These courses provide a safe space for kids to explore their inner worlds. It encourages the child's system to find its unique balance from within. Helping his or her self-healing mechanisms to engage and function optimally. Children who practice Reiki benefit from empowerment as well as its calming and it's restorative effects. Life has always been stressful but with the issues that we are dealing with today. It's needed more then ever.

Parents are very much encouraged to learn Reiki if their child is showing interest in it so both can receive daily treatments from each other. It's a beautiful gift that can be shared amongst one another. Even if we don't truly understand the process its important to be open to each other’s journey. And enjoy the moving towards becoming a spiritual family that checks in on a daily basis.
